First Canada Monthly Online Tournament Happening in a few weeks! Project Play And other news!

Heya Everyone,

For club meeting updates, those have sadly fallen by the way side in the past few months. I just wanted to let everyone know that the club is still healthy, has a good turn out, and is still at it’s location indicated on this blog. Stay tuned for any changes in the future, be it location, time etc.

Just thought I’d let you know about the first Canada Monthly Online Tournament. It is happening on KGS. All information regarding the event can be found here:

In other news, The Forest City Go club was at Project Play this past Sunday. Thank you all for coming out to Project Play and learning Go from, myself, Matt Mennie, Mark Wong, and Rob Patterson. We are very grateful to the organizers of the event for this opportunity, and look forward to next year’s event. For more information about Project Play visit their website at:

In another note, we are partnering up with Neotokyo The Anime Store to advertise for the club. You can find more information regarding their store at: No news yet on providing discounts on purchases, but you never know that might happen in the future :). While I am on the advertising note, if anyone is interested in promoting The Forest City Go club in their store, schools, websites, etc. Please give us a shout at our email address and we will respond promptly to the offer. Upon our approval you’ll be welcome to advertise our club. Thanks in advance.

My Baduk Journey

One of our club members, Matt Mennie, is currently on a 1-month training trip to South Korea to study Go at a special school there (and learn how to crush us all when he gets back).  He’s been posting a daily blog of his adventures and pictures here:

2012 Toronto Open- June 2nd, 2012

2012 Toronto Open

The Toronto Go Club has had a resurgence of membership in the last year, so we’re celebrating by hosting our first tournament in years.

Room 106, The 519 Community Centre, 519 Church Street, Toronto, Canada.

It’s in the same building as our usual club meetings, but in a room big enough for 80. If you haven’t been here before, there’s a map on the location page.

Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 9:30am until 6:30pm.

In division A, 1st place will receive $50 plus a Club Set (value $150-200), and 2nd place will receive $50.

Players in the remaining divisions (and lower placed players in division A) will select from dozens of prizes ranging in value between $10 and $40, thanks in large part to our sponsors.
